Wendy Elwell

I am a 55 year old nurse, grandmother, and homesteader who has found her heart right here on the farm. What started as a love for simple living has grown into a life centered around caring for my family, my animals and the land.

On my farm, I raise goats and chickens, and each season brings something new to nurture and learn from. I've proud raised non-GMO turkeys for Thanksgiving and continue to raise non-GMO chickens throughout the year, believing deeply in providing wholesome, honest food.

You'll often find me in the garden, tending to what's growing, or out in the pasture with my animals-especially my cow, Daily, who holds a special place in my heart.

This life isn't just about farming it's about legacy, family and creating something meaningful to pass down. As a grandmother, I cherish the opportunity to share this way of life with the next generation, teaching them the value of hard work, nature, and care.

This farm is more than a place-it's a way of living with purpose, intention and love.

Terri Berton is an Intuitive Energy Healer, Spiritual Life Guide, and owner of The Holistic Dragonfly. Her passion is helping others achieve overall health and wellness-mind, body, and spirit,-through a variety of energy healing techniques and intuitive readings.

Today we're featuring Wendy Elwell, one of 12 Outstanding Women of Beaver County in our most recent edition of The Bridge!

Wendy Elwell runs Elwell Funny Farm in Baden. The farm has goats, chickens and beehives, and she has a variety of homemade goods for purchase in a shed storefront at the start of her property. In May, she will host a farmers' market in Baden as a way to promote local businesses and bring the community together.

"She is so ambitious, generous and always has her heart set on being kind and providing whatever she can for the people around her," her nominator wrote.

In fact, she gave goat milk soap and tallow balm to editor Dani Brown during The Bridge's visit with her. For Wendy, it's not about getting rich when she makes and sells these products — it's about providing something handmade with love to the community.

"When I turned 50, I wanted to give back. I want my grandkids to know me as someone who gave, not as someone who cares about how much they have," Wendy said.
